The most direct shipping route from Europe to Asia is fully clear of ice for the first time since records began, the European Space Agency (Esa) says.

Historically, the Northwest Passage linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans has been ice-bound through the year.

No, the worst hurricane was in 1900. It killed 5 to 6000 people on Galveston Island. Katrina would not have been so bad if the state and local govt. of Louisiana had reinforced the levee like the Corp of Engineers had specified. Corruption caused that wall to fall.
Increased media hysterics make the weather seem worse now, but bad weather has always plagued mankind from generations long passed.

To all of the dingbats who say things like "there were hurricanes and flooding before humans":

-Was there acid rain before humans? Doubt it.
-Was there ozone layer depletion before human influence? Nope, that's only happened since the 1970's.
-Was there a garbage barge the size of Texas in the Pacific before humans? Nope…I think that we are the ones responsible for sewage systems.
and please explain to me why asthma cases in children are more than 6 times more prevalent than they were in the 1960's (percentage of population numbers, not total cases to any "genius" who decides to say "there are 6 times more kids today")

I can go on and on with PROVEN facts on this one, but, to make a final point, how can we sustain ourselves forever on NON-RENEWABLE resources. Coal, oil, etc are all non-renewable, which means that if we continue consuming at our current rate, we will run out and need to use alternate fuel forms. Is there really anything wrong with these alternate forms being environmentally friendly?

Global warming and natural disasters Are the predictions coming true before our eyes?
